Welcome to City Reach Prayer tonight our host is Santa
Rosa Christian School. Dr. Sam Tillery is unable to
be with us tonight and he has asked me to beg your forgiveness
(just kidding), for not being here. Actually he is speaking
tonight in Novato at a Christian World View Business
Conference, so again, Sam is continuing to build bridges
in the different spheres in the County and in this area,
in prayer and in service.
We have had a lot of new and exciting developments
over the last three or four months in relation to the
city and the county, which we believe and are certain
of course that these have happened because of your prayers
and God is answering these, so we are very excited about
that.
We do have a clip board that is being passed around,
so we want to make sure that everyone signs in. Just
your name, what church your representing and your e-mail
address if we don’t already have it. Once we have
your e-mail, you’you'll be able to get notified
of each City Reach Meeting, it’s location, and
also there are a few web sights that are kept up to
date on what’s happening here in the County in
prayer, and while we are doing the announcements, and
before we get started in prayer, there are actually
some really exciting things that are going across our
Nation and in the state of California and in our vicinity.
Next month we are going to be at Community Baptist
Church, the first Friday in April. The first Friday
in May actually falls in the middle of a very exciting
time of prayer. The National Day of Prayer, which falls
on May 5th, it’s a Thursday, of course that day
there will be the prayer down in Court House Square
as there always is, and there will be an evening prayer
gathering at Bethel Baptist Church.
The next evening is our City Reach Prayer meeting and
we’we'll be praying just a few blocks from here
at the new West Side Christian Church, just down the
street, Rod Bowman’s congregation. It will be
our first time at their new facility. That is all part
of a 24 hour 10 day period of prayer, between the National
Day of Prayer
on the 5th and the Global Day of Prayer
, which is May 15th 2005. A number of you I’m
sure have heard about it, if you haven’t it is
a very exciting thing.
You know, prayer movements are going all across the
world right now, spontaneously starting in all types
of ways, some of which mirror the movement that has
occurred here over the last 10 - 15 years. Some very
different, but what has happened, what has led up to
this Global Day of Prayer is, in Cape Town South Africa
five years ago. A group of Christian businessmen got
together for prayer, and they began to cry out to God
for first their Nation of South Africa. Then the next
year, the time of prayer spread to about 10 cities on
South Africa. By the next year, there were 1000's of
men, women, college age and children who began to cry
out to God for their city, Nation, and for Africa. By
the fourth year, there was prayer going up in every
nation in Africa.
First it spread through the Sub-Sahara, then to all
the Muslim nations above the Sahara and as a result,
last year there were over 20 million people in Africa,
crying out to God on the same day. Now, Africa has turned
to the rest of the world and has invited us to join
them to cry out to God for our world. So it’s
really pretty exciting as you consider that God has
gone to a lot of trouble to stir His people all across
the globe. I’m convinced that e-mail and internet
, which may or may not have all been invented by Al
Gore (ha,ha,ha), but certainly inspired by the Holy
Spirit. Because when God gets ready to pour something
out, inventions like the printing press happen and spread.
I am so thankful and aware that we now are able through
the internet, receive e-mails and within moments we
can know prayer requests from any where in the world
and it’s serving the purpose of uniting the Body
of Christ all over the world. We have been a part of
that here in Sonoma County in a small way, but when
we get the picture that this is happening all over the
world, we know that there are tremendous and exciting
things for this time which we live. Well, that is it
for the announcements.
Steve and Debbie Cavalli
You know, it has just been so obvious, not just from
being a part of these prayer gatherings, but my wife
and I have lived in this county and carried a burden
for the lost here for about 30 years now, and we tend
to be evangelistic, and I have never seen such an opening
in heaven in the last year to year and ½, I mean
it’s incredible. You just can go anywhere with
the Gospel and people are just so receptive. I haven’t
seen anything like it in 30 years. I don’t know
if anyone else is experiencing this, but I do believe
that it is the result of all of the prayers that have
been going on for this to happen and there are some
changes in the atmosphere over this place. That’s
been my witness here lately anyway's.
Harry Skandera
Well, we bear witness to that and too believe that
that is so. Sometimes that can be discouraging, but
overall, there is no question that we are in a very
different climate than we were even 5 years ago, so
we appreciate that, also, there have been many people
who have prayed and continue to pray who have not yet
experienced that, will experience that, and we are confident
in this. Well, part of the many prayers coming together
here in our county, is really going to hit in a very
serious way and of course we want to invite everyone
to participate in any way that they can, as we head
into the National Day of Prayer and then the 10 days
heading up to the Global day of prayer.
There are other things going on in California, you
can check it out on the web sight, Pray California
. All of the 58 Counties in California have the
some kind of prayer movement going on and they have
and they have began to communicate under the umbrella
of Pray California, so much so, that this year, 2005,
every county in California is going to be prayed for
and it just so happens that our county's week to be
prayed for is July 17th.
That week all the other prayer networks in California
will be praying for us. We will have a historical kind
of a blurb, familiarizing them with who we are and what
God has been doing here to our knowledge. It is a very
exciting time.
I realized, providentially, that there has been one
meeting that has occurred that has effected world leaders
in our county. It occurs annually out at Bohemian Grove
and they meet every year in the last two weeks of July,
which this year begins on July 17th, so that is no accident
and should be a real doozer! So, I bring all of that
up to introduce our direction of prayer tonight. We
want to pray through the scripture, Psalm 24 and you
may want to have your Bible open to it as we will be
praying for various things.
As we go through this, we want to pray in faith over
our County, Sonoma County.
Psalm 24 -
The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it.
The world, and all who live in it;
for he founded it upon the seas and established it upon
the waters.
Who may ascend the hill of the Lord?
Who may stand in his holy place?
He who has clean hands and a pure heart.
Who does not lift up his soul to an idol or swear by
what is false.
He will receive blessing from the Lord and vindication
from God his Savior.
Such is the generation of those who seek him.
Who seek your face.
O God of Jacob.
Lift up your heads.
O you gates; be lifted up, you ancient doors, that the
King of glory may come in.
Who is this King of glory?
The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle.
Lift up your heads, O you gates; lift them up, you ancient
doors, that the King of glory may come in.
Who is he, this King of glory?
The Lord Almighty - He is the King of glory. Selah
I believe that we are impressed upon by the scripture
tonight, because it has to do with gates. I believe
that Sonoma County is a gate. It is a place where things
of influence enter into, from the spiritual into the
world of the natural. If you look into and study the
history of Sonoma County, you see one thing after another,
some good, some not so good, things that have been initiated
here. This was not a seat of government like Sacramento
or like Washington D.C., but there is not question that
spiritually this place has been a gate of influence.
I just want to go through a list here before we pray,
of ways that our county has been a gateway in our history.
First of all, I think that everybody remembers, where
did the Golden Gate Bridge come from? The man who was
called the father of the Golden Gate Bridge, was Frank
Doyle. He was the man who initiated and pushed and saw
that along with the editor of our newspaper, that the
Golden Gate Bridge happened.
Now, why did they do it? It was a tremendous battle,
because the money interest in the northern part of the
state (timber interests) wanted to keep this as their
private poaching ground. There wasn't very much opportunity
here for the common every day citizen, and Frank Doyle
believed that this is a land of opportunity and that
there was a treasure here, not only for a select few,
but for all who God would call to this place, and that's
how the Golden Gate Bridge got started.
It was through the vision that came through Frank
Doyle. That spirit of liberty and freedom from oppression,
was something I believe that was on God's heart, His
intention for this place that it would be a gate. A
gate for every man and woman to have opportunity. This
was also a gateway for what was known as the "Yellow
Peril Bills
", as immigrants began to pour into the Country
to work on the railroads, many of them Chinese.
There were three congressmen from our county that
made National careers by pushing the Bills that became
what they called the "Yellow Peril Bill",
blocking Chinese immigration. Definitely racist. Definitely
had to deal with a tremendous amount of persecution
of the Chinese as well as other minority races. You've
all heard the story before about how our board of supervisors
voted to ban all Chinese from our County. He put a banner
across Santa Rosa Ave. stating, "All Chinese must
go", and this was a terrible persecution
of Chinese and that is the only race that has been not
welcome here, but again, this was the gate for that
influence, not just in our state, but in the Nation.
This was a the gate for agriculture, the agricultural
treasure of the state, even before Luther Burbank, it
was called, "The garden of Eden of the State".
It was the leading agricultural area, of course that
shifted once the California water project went in and
the valley opened up, that emphasis shifted from here,
but this is where it started. This was the father of
the vineyard industry. They had their first vines here
in Sonoma County. This was the gate for the whole wine
industry.
The first revival, the first Gospel revival, west of
the Rocky Mountains happened in a field just outside
the city of Sonoma. So, it was the gateway of the Gospel
West of the Rocky's. If you look around at the different
religions who have headquarters in Sonoma County, you'll
know that this place represents some kind of spiritual
gateway. This is where the Tibetan Monks decided to
set up shop, out at Cazadero. The place where they pray
and make their sand designs, pray over them, then put
them into the rivers as a way of putting their spirit
onto this whole region.
This is a place where ever summer, in Petaluma, the
gateway for the Church of Religious Science out off
of Adobe road, over 10,000 people come from all over
the world to worship in that place every summer. We
already mentioned Bohemian Grove. It is also a gateway
for Fijian evangelists.
This is something very few people know about, that
there are many Fijians in our community cleaning the
homes of the rich. Many of them have been sent here
as an outworking of the revival that has occurred over
the last 10 years on the island of Fiji, and out of
all the places that they could have been sent, they
didn't go to L. A., they didn't go to San Francisco,
they believed that God told them to come and start here
in Santa Rosa.
That is a little kind of a thing, but it is one of
those things that catches your attention, because you
realize that spiritually this place is hot wired in
some kind of a very serious way. There has always been,
from the inception of what became the United States,
spiritual conflict here.
The first Catholic missionaries that came here, remember
how Santa Rosa got it's name. They baptized an Indian
maiden in the creek and then had to run out and flee
for their lives, because the local Native Americans
realized that when this girl got baptized, something
changed spiritually. They listened to the sons and were
content to let them preach, but once this girl stepped
forward to be baptized, literally all hell broke loose,
so that began another chapter in the spiritual conflict
over this place. As I looked over the history of this
place, some of these events that have occurred, I don't
know, it just didn't fall into place, but of course
there is conflict.
Why were there 6 Nations' flags over this county?
How many counties in the U.S., have had six different
Nations' flags? Maybe a few, but very few.
Why was there the drive to stick a flag here for these
nations? Because this is a gateway, a spiritual gate.
I want to say all of that, because I think that it's
important for us to recognize the ground on which we
stand and how important it is as we pray to be bold
in our prayers. This is a time of releasing other things
of the Spirit of God into this place. It's
time to lift up your heads O ye gates.
It's time to begin to usher in a new era of the King
of glory coming in. So, I want us to pray with that
in mind. If you have a Bible and turn over to Psalm
24 which is where we read, you may want to use that
scripture as a guide as we pray into different specific
areas of the release of God's spirit in our county.
Tonight don't think about this as an event, think about
this as, in the timing of God, lighting a fuse that
will be in God's hands when the bomb goes off. That
kind of fuse that needs to be lit again and again and
again in the hearts of God's people. So, I want to just
talk to you for a minute about what you would want to
begin to ask God to release in our county. Just think
of that. Think about the things that we just said, all
the different gates that this is representing. Things
that shifted the state, things that shifted the Nation.
The things that have been world shifting. So, let's
just take a minute to be quiet and ask God, what is
it that we should release here tonight, see what it
is that you hear.
Time of silence and prayer
Harry Skandera
I know that if every person spoke tonight, we'd run
out of time before we pray, but I'm sure that if we
hear from some people what God has laid on their heart,
that it will resound in all of our hearts as well, so,
what are some of the things that were impressed upon
you to want to pray for to release in our county?
(those who responded in the gathering)
- A yearning for the Creator.
- A shifting of people's mind sets.
- Release from the darkness among us.
- Boldness of faith.
- Openness to the Gospel in this generation and that
the body of Christ would be ready and available to
love on these people seeking truth and truly and boldly
share God's heart and truth.
- A hunger for God.
- A release of repentance.
- A longing for the truth.
- A understanding of the role of prayer, the power
of prayer. That the believers would unleash this direct
access to God.
- A release of God's original intent in both spiritual
and business.
- God would touch the Christian World View, different
spheres of life.
- A release of the body to be abiding in God, for
people not to compartmentalize their faith, but abide
in all areas.
- A release of people to see spiritually more.
- A natural fruit of abiding in Christ.
Harry Skandera
Ok, as we prepare our hearts to come before the throne
of God, let us open our Bible's to Psalm 24 and I would
like us to read it together again, then break up into
groups of 4 or 5 and pray either what you heard someone
speak or maybe something that God has put on your heart
to speak release of God in this place, ok, let's read
Psalm 24 together..
(groups in prayer)
(let's open those gates!)
Harry Skandera
Your prayers were making the sound of rushing waters
was flowing through the room, so thank you. For the
next half, we want to focus on our host school and I
want to defer this representing of the school to it's
principal, Dr. Kimberly and President of our Board,
Mark.
I just want to say a couple things as to why this
is a good place to be pray. We have a thing that we
talk about in intercession it's called earned virtue,
it's kind of like integrity or authenticity, but I always
use this example when I tell my students what earned
virtue is all about. I can talk about what it is like
to have a baby, but I'm only talking about something
that I've watched, I'm never going to have a baby, but
my wife has had four, she is an authority as can any
woman who has had a baby. I can't touch that, they have
an authority in that area, because of the experience
that God has led them through.
It's like an expert testimony or someone's testimony
that holds a little more weight that another because
of their experience and what they have been led through.
The students at this school corporately pray 6 hours
a week which is a little known fact, but in each of
our Christian world view classes, which there are 6,
one hour every week is prayer day and that is all we
do is pray.
I hadn't really thought about it much until a few weeks
ago. I got some feed back from some students last week
on what they loved about Santa Rosa Christian about
a school, and the top thing on their list was that they
spend an hour a week in prayer together. It struck me
how I know God is pleased when young people are crying
out to Him. So, this is a place that hosting a prayer
ministry feels comfortable and we love having all of
you here to pray for our school and with us, so I'm
going to ask Dr. Kimberly Moore to come up now and share
about the vision of Santa Rosa Christian.
Dr. Kimberly Moore
I'm actually going to have our board President come
and share first. I have a some things too that I would
like to share, but as board President our board is the
key group that steers the vision of this school. Lawrence
Lehr is going to share a little bit about the vision
that God was giving this school about the same time
He was giving a vision to the community to begin banning
together in city reach prayer, so there is another timing
interest that Lawrence actually brought to my attention
and I'm going to let him speak first.
Lawrence Lehr
It is great to see many old friends here. I wanted to
point out Steve who is also on the board and is here
tonight and has been a tremendous blessing and voice
and heart on the board. This school has been here for
about 35 years and it has been a great witness for Christ.
We have many long time staff members, some of them are
here tonight and there has been a great testimony that
has come out of this school in the past years, but about
5 years ago, God started to really speak to the board
and the community here at the school that things were
going to change.
That He wanted us to move from where we were to somewhere
else and that is an on going process for us. We are
going to be looking to see and implement what God really
wants from us. We have some really unique opportunities
here, because we are not a church sponsored school,
we are completely independent. In fact, we have students
that represent over 70 churches in Sonoma County at
this school, not to mention staff from many churches
and backgrounds, but we have a heart that God has given
us over the last few years to be a resource to the entire
body of Christ in Sonoma County. We believe that God
has a place for us here where we will really be a resource
to the Kingdom of God in the community of believers
in Sonoma County.
It really goes along with what has been going on with
Pastors Prayer and what you as intercessors has been
hearing from the body. God has done the same thing in
us here, He has given us the same vision, refining it
and we know that He is going to bring it to pass. We
really believe that God wants to use us to train up
a generation of people who will have a heart to really
lead in this county, lead in a righteous way. Carrying
a Christian world view, carrying the Gospel in very
practical ways into the market place, realms of government,
ministry and wherever God calls, that is what our vision
is. It is wonderful, it is a blessing every time I walk
on this campus to see the spirit that God is producing.
He has brought us people in the last 5 years, staff
members and leaders to the school that were absolutely
sent from God, we don't even know how they ended up
here.
We've got people working here that there is no reason
that they should be here, but they are, like Harry and
Kimberly, but we know from this that has been putting
His seal of approval on the vision that we are carrying.
The board just very recently has come up with some desired
vision that is going to be a real challenge. We are
going to relocate this campus. We believe He wants to
give us a new place that will be a sign of new and bigger
vision that He is birthing and Kimberly will be talking
about that a little further, so that is really where
we are at. We are looking to be what God wants us to
be to serve the body and to serve His purposed here
in Sonoma County in ways we don't even know yet.
Kimberly Moore
Thank you. Harry, maybe you could pass these out. I
put a bulleted list of items on this hand out that I
thought may be helpful in directing the prayers this
evening, I also want you to have it so that you could
pray beyond this evening. In fact these items are appearing
in our news letter that will be going out in a week
or two so that even a broader community of people can
be praying for us.
When Lawrence talked about the vision, it is a wonderful
and exciting vision and I what I would like to see prayed
for with that is clarification. We continue to struggle
helping people understand something that they have never
seen. We are the only independent, inter-denominational
school in this area, and we had a vision for being a
school of excellence. We bock at the idea that one must
sacrifice academics to be spiritually mature, or the
other way around, and so we are looking for excellence
and we want people to understand the concept that we
believe God has given us that. We are to reflect Christ
and that means that we are going to be excellent, because
He is excellent and so we would ask that there would
be clarification about that and then, also this dove-tails
into what does excellent mean for us?
We have an excellent staff. We get Harry five days
a week and we have fantastic teachers in our elementary,
our secondary, in every sphere we have excellence there.
We have excellence in our board of directors and integrity,
but we are lacking in excellence in other ways,in other
areas.
God has given us a vision of striving to reflect Him,
but our facilities often do not reflect Him. We are
looking for the Lord to bless our facilities. We know
that they need a lot of work, we know that they inhibit
us from building up the generation that we believe He
is calling us to. He is calling us to have a comprehensive
program that we should be able to train the next group
of technicians, politicians, scientists and artists
and the whole gambit, yet we lack so many things to
accomplish that goal, and so we do not want anyone to
feel that they are going to have to go to a secular
school, because Santa Rosa Christian School doesn't
have this program or that program. Or we don't have
these facilities to do this kind of a thing, and so
relocating the school will allow us to be on a property
that would enhance our programs and we also are asking
that the Lord gives us greater visibility.
We have an awesome mission here, but so many times
I run into people who say, "are you located out
near Rincon Valley?", and I say no, or they say,
"are you that school that is over here?",
and I say that that is not us, and so, being unique
as we are, I want people to understand who we are, and
so moving to an area that will hopefully be more visible,
so that people will get to know us too, because we want
to influence our community, that's what we want to do.
Do we want to change this community? Yes, we do. We
want to have an influence anywhere the Lord would allow
us to have an influence, because we have a heart for
Christ and we want that reflected in every sphere. So,
we are asking the lord to build up our place in this
community, so that we will have the influence, not for
our glory, but that the Lord would be glorified.
So that the next generation will understand all of
the knowledge that there is for us to understand and
that is spiritual knowledge as well as academic knowledge,
because they go hand in hand. And so, we also want to
increase our enrollment, we have about 300 students,
and so we want to see 600, and so then we will ask the
Lord for more after that, but that means that we're
making progress, that we are being a positive influence
in our community.
So, we are asking that the Lord would increase our
enrollment, that He'll double it, at least for a start.
One of the things that the Lord has also done for us
is to bring to our attention that we can sometimes be
small minded. I think about our community and working
in our community and that's great and the Lord has provided
some wonderful opportunities. I think that we may be
the only non-church member of Pastors Prayer Fellowship,
that is a very important part where we like to connect
with the community, to say we want to work in partnership
with other Christian organizations who have a heart
for this community, that is one of our unique things.
But the Lord has also said, "What about beyond
your community"? We weren't even looking for things
beyond our community and the Lord brought to us an international
program. We have currently about 15 Korean students
that just almost showed up, there is no more to it than
that, but the Lord really did bring it to us and say,
"think beyond your boarders. If you want to have
influence, there is so much out there that I can give
you an opportunity to influence, and our job is just
to say yes, and I love to say yes. I am an opportunist.
We are sending kids to Latvia over the summer. We are
always looking for ways in which the Lord can give us
an opportunity in His name to influence for His name.
And so, we're asking that the Lord would increase our
opportunities internationally. We would love to have
a ministry where we bring students in from Central and
South America, as well as Korea and possibly also Latvia.
We want whatever God would send us, because we believe
that He will give us as many opportunities as we are
willing to say yes to, so we are praying for that also.
And then in terms of things locally, I have always had
a heart for families that cannot afford a Christian
education. I remember before I was ever married saying,
"Lord, if you give me children someday, it's really
important that they have a Christian education",
and I believed that fervently even as a twenty year
old. I grieve the fact that there are many families
who cannot possibly afford Christian education.
We are fortunate that we have gotten some donations
and continue to get some donations for scholarship program.
Right now it's pretty small and limited, but we have
had some donations to start a scholarship program for
incoming high school students. They need to be students
who are good in school, because we don't have the knowledge
of the programs for students who struggle in school,
they need to be from families who want a Christian education,
because we want people who want to be here, and we're
looking for families who can't afford it, and so, for
me this has been a personal exciting thing, because
I have always had a heart for those who want a Christian
education, but can't afford it. So we're looking for
God to bring us ten 9th and 10th grade students who
want a high school education in a Christian environment
and who can't afford it. We're trying to work on getting
the word out. I have made about 150 phone calls over
that last couple of weeks to area pastors, home schooling
coordinators, because sometimes in the home-school arena,
people choose it because they can't afford a Christian
school and some people choose it because it's the right
choice for them, but sometimes they feel like they can't
afford a private education, so I'll do this, and so
we want people to know if you are interested in this,
we have a possible opportunity for you.
In fact, I brought some information here if you know
anyone and would like to take this information to them,
please do so. We are excited about giving away money.
So, looking at the other bullet points here, there are
other programs that we would like to start; technology
programs, foreign language in the elementary school,
and some other things that we really would like to do
as well, so that is what I would like you to pray for
for our school as we strive to fulfill what we believe
God's mission is, which is developing the whole child
to a level of excellence and reflecting Him, because
shouldn't the top people be Christian? Yeah, that's
what we think too.
Harry Skandera
Ok, what I would like us to do now, is to pray through
each one of these bullet points, so let's go into our
groups. Read through bullet #1 and as you pray into
that, I want you to listen to the prayer of a local
pastor, his name is Adam Peacock. He would have normally
been here tonight, but he is at the same conference
that Sam Tillery is at tonight, so I wasn't going to
let them both off the hook that easily, so I said to
Adam, " you know, one of the things about the vision
at our school, Santa Rosa Christian, we know very well,
it's called Christian world-view.
In fact, what used to be our Biblical studies classes
are now called the Christian world view classes, because
we want our kids to understand that Christ is King in
every sphere of society. So, as we pray into this first
bullet, I'd like you to listen to this tape of Pastor
Peacock's prayer, it's about 3 minutes, so let's hear
this prayer and then you can add yours to it.
Pastor Adam Peacock's prayer
Prayed for this next generation: That they would have
the very mind of Christ, have a Christian world view,
believe and know the truth about your Bible, know that
the Bible addresses all of life, know how to live that
truth out in a way that testifies to who you are and what
your purposes are in this world, give them a solid foundation
in their thinking, know how to address life's circumstances
with Biblical principals, have the ability to answer tough
questions according to God's Word, they would be equipped
by your spirit to be able to proclaim the word boldly,
be able to play in this counties parks, work in this counties
businesses and be an influence, not influenced by the
world, release in them the desire to see the kingdom extended
through their lives, may they live by design and not by
default, to walk as prophetic voices to their generation
and not as products of the television and video games.
Lord, give us the grace not just to tell them, but to
train them. We pray that they would have a clear picture
of themselves and others, that they would be diligent
in prayer and worship as well, they would be experts and
that they would be fishers of men. We believe that you,
Lord Jesus will bring all of these things to be and that
you will be glorified in their lives. Amen.

I know that we joined in with that prayer,
but I also know that your faith has been stirred as
you listened to that prayer, so let's take the next
couple minutes to pray.
That they would not sacrifice a strong Christian world
view. To somewhat summarize this point to me, is about
the articulation of what God has made us to be and how
it effects every sphere of life, that we would have
the courage to speak it and the wisdom to know when.
I thought of a recent example of this which occurred
in the last few months, I don't know if this had ever
happened before, but I know that our Principal Dr. Moore
invited all the other Christian schools in the County
to a Principals Prayer meeting, and you know what? They
came! The Lutherans, Catholics, Baptists and the nondenominational
came and that is a testimony, but it is something that
number one, some do not appreciate anymore or because
of their particular denomination, they do not feel the
liberty to do that and, because of our being inter-denominational,
it is very comfortable for us to do and we feel that
it is part of the ministry, the message, and calling
for Santa Rosa Christian.
So we pray and ask that you would pray for us in that,
that God would open up the doors for us to articulate
that vision for the community among Christians. One
thing in particularly and specifically that is on our
hearts is that we would have a radio station on our
campus which would be an opportunity to positively effect
our local and international community.
Some of these things have begun, some are still upon
our heart. We prayed before that the Lord would bring
us students from the North, South, East and West and
of course when we prayed that, we were thinking about
Santa Rosa and Sonoma County, but the Lord I think wanted
us to realize that it was reaching further than that.
We are planning to take a group of kids to Latvia this
summer, setting up a missions trip. We are really praying
that God would perhaps open up a door to bring in some
Russian Latvians to the school.
We're exploring Central America. We have an excellent
language program, particularly in Spanish and would
seem to fit with that. I know that for instance, that
our school is going to be represented on a trip at the
end of this month, the school is allowing us to go with
a group of ministers and intercessors to the Nation
of Israel. This is not a Holy Land casual tour, this
is an invitation by the government of Israel to Christian
ministers and prayer people, because they have come
to the realization that it is the Christians that are
their friends. They asked Mrs. Schindler, a in-law of
Oscar Schindler to bring in the first group of pastors
and prayer people to meet with key prayer leaders among
the Christians in Israel, and so we feel it's an honor,
we also feel that it is very significant for our school,
for us to be included in this new opening between here
and the nation of Israel and more international contacts.
Many of you here in this room participated with us
in our missions trip to Latvia last summer and we're
going again this year. Our hearts desire is that as
part of the greater Christian community of Sonoma County,
we are taking some of our kids and making relationship
with public educational institutions in Latvia. That
is happening and we covet your prayers, and also we
know that God wants to open up something in central
or South America. Would you pray for us in that? And
again, in all of this that we would connect with significant
Christian ministry in our County, you know, we are not
interested in doing this by ourselves, but as we let
in what God is doing in our county , so let's pray and
seek God.

The Latvian trip has been a tremendous learning experience
for some of our students. When the students became aware
of what it was going to cost, they realized that there
was going to be a lot of car washes, and before long
they came to realize that is was going to take more
than a few car washes, and so, I told them, "this
is not a kids fun trip to another country, this is a
missions trip, so go to your church and tell them that
you want to represent Christ and that you want to represent
America, and see what happens". God worked through
congregations' hearts and friends, and not one student
stayed home. That is an education. That thought these
students more than we could ever have talked to them
about. That's education in putting our trust in the
Lord. Our next point to focus on for prayer is the 4th
bullet point on the hand out. This is about provision
and about releasing young people that are in places
right now that they don't want to be. That those students
who have a heart to go further with Him, that God would
release them to come here. We have a phrase that we
talk to our students about here, it's called having
an approachable spirit and a teachable heart, and that
is what we believe the Lord is looking for, so if you'll
pray through this now regarding our enrollment.

The last bullet point on the sheet that we will pray
through is dealing with partnership in investing in
the future of the vision of Santa Rosa Christian School.
The kids were asked to submit one or two things that
they would like to see people pray about tonight. I
would say that about 99.9% of those requests had to
do with relocation. We've made studies of course that
to build a full blown school, k-12, that including high
school, takes 25 - 35 weeks, we are on 9, we need a
miracle and that is what we're asking you to ask God
for. So, let's pray.

Please remember to keep us in your prayers. So, before
we close tonight, we need two more prayers. 1) I'd like
us to gather around all of the Santa Rosa Christian
School people. I'm going to ask Rob to pray a blessing
over us if you would. Rob is going to be doing the talking,
but you folks will be laying your hands on us all if
you would.
