Pastors' Prayer Fellowship, one Church, many congregations,
united in Christ through prayer.
If you are very busy, there is no dated or similarly valuable information
in this report. Some pastors and intercessors have said they appreciate
these glimpses of what is being prayed when they miss a meeting, so
this is offered strictly as an update for those praying for our county.
WEEKLY MEETING of the Pastors' Prayer Fellowship
On December 10, Jeff Gilman of Redwood Gospel Mission led the meeting
with the pastors focusing their prayer in two areas:
1) for gang members;
2) for local Spanish pastors and their ministries
DECEMBER'S CITY REACH PRAYER
Sponsored by Pastors' Prayer Fellowship of Sonoma County on December
5, pastors and intercessors from five towns and ten churches or ministries
met in the sanctuary of Sonoma Christian Fellowship for an especially
warm and comfortable gathering with Pastor Larry Moore leading in worship
and Christmas praise on his guitar. A large manger scene was on the
platform beneath a rugged wooden cross that one of the church members
and his father made for the sanctuary awhile back. That son is now in
training with the Marines at Camp Pendleton, but his mom was among the
City Reach attendees that night. On the church's back wall is a large
banner that reads:
Fill this house with Thy glory.
Representing Pastors' Prayer Fellowship at City Reach, Dr. Sam Tillery
and Harry Skandera encouraged attendees Friday night that there is an
effect from their united prayers even though it is not always evident
immediately on the surface. We're in partnership, Dr. Sam said. He who
began a good work will carry
it on to completion.
The Sonomans present were asked how they would describe their town.
Responses included:
Beautiful, unique city
Lots of churches and lots of people going to church, but they would
like to see more spirituality, more love for God and for each other.
Need a boost up to God. People can be too busy and passive. Though independent
at times, people can also be very caring and warm.
Concern for New Age in the city
Harry Skandera reminded us that the earth is the Lord's, and that God
has a heart for the city of Sonoma. Who else, he asked, but us, Jesus'
bride, will carry the burden of prayer for this city? Nineteen months
ago when City Reach previously met in Sonoma, Harry talked about the
city's history and the courthouse and how Ichabod had been written over
the city years before, that the glory had departed, but God's heart
is to see the glory of the Lord rise in the midst of the city. Santa
Rosa needs Sonoma, he said, and we are very interested in what happens
here.
People broke up into small groups to pray Psalm 24 over the city, i.e.,
Sonoma is the Lord's, we lift up the gates that the King of glory would
come in, etc.
Corporately, we prayed for the six pastors already meeting together
in the east part of the county:
1. Sonoma Valley Community Church, the gift of teaching in Pastor Tim,
the upcoming meetings with Moshe Rosen of Jews for Jesus
2. Sonoma Seventh Day Adventist Church, Pastor Steve, and their Christmas
cantata with another church
3. Sonoma Valley Christian Church with Pastor Jerry Young thanks for
their Vacation Bible School
4. Glen Ellen Community Church, established in 1880, an old church with
young pastors, Jerry and Rachel, only here six months.
5. Sonoma Valley United Methodist Church, a Wesleyan Methodist church,
Pastor Angelo. Ps. 71:18, Though an older man, give him stamina to declare
Your power to this generation, and Your might to those who are to come.
6. Sonoma Christian Fellowship (where we were meeting that night) Pastor
Larry shared that the charter school which had been renting is moving
from the property; there are electrical problems; and a debt on the
facility. When intercessors were asked if any had paid off their house,
two men raised their hands, so they were asked to come up and pray for
the finances and debt of the church. We look forward to seeing how God
will answer those amazing prayers.
There was also prayer for Dr. Sam and Harry as they headed to Latvia
in the next couple of days to represent Pastors' Prayer Fellowship in
a region where Pastor Rob Thommarson of Sebastopol and Dr. Sam had already
ministered previously, having shown George Otis, Jr.'s transformation
video there and encouraging the pastors to come together in prayer across
denominational lines as the pastors are doing in Sonoma County and worldwide.
The Latvian pastors did begin meeting and have already seen change,
and were looking forward to more direction from the American pastors'
visit.
Dr. Sam and Harry will probably share an update on the good outcome
of their trip to Latvia on Friday, January 2, 2004 at City Reach Prayer,
meeting at Foothills Community Church in Santa Rosa. The newest Transformation
video, "The
Quickening" will also be shown that night. For more information
